About the Role As a founding Software Engineer on our Web Engineering team, you will shape the development and infrastructure of our web applications using advanced technologies like PWAs and SSR. We are seeking someone with a strong background in JavaScript, React, Node.js , and experience in data visualization. You will thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment, solving complex problems and collaborating effectively with team members and partners. Your role will include mentoring others, suggesting process improvements, and driving best practices. Responsibilities Collaborate with a passionate agile team to deliver high-impact features and technology improvements that contribute to the product's success Design and build critical web front ends using JavaScript, TypeScript, and React, playing a pivotal role in our operations Lead the adoption of the latest observability best practices to ensure our code is efficient, scalable, and maintainable Write and maintain comprehensive unit and functional tests, proactively addressing issues that could impact delivery Resolve production issues, ensuring our systems perform reliably and efficiently. Provide direction across teams, influencing architectural decisions and technology choices for long-term success. Partner closely with stakeholders to create user-friendly features that are simple, consistent, and robust. Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the team’s productivity and efficiency. Uphold user privacy and data security by integrating robust measures to protect our users' information. Support team development through recruitment, technical guidance, and fostering a culture of continuous learning and excellence Ideal Background Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience 7+ years in web development with a robust portfolio of applications Professional experience with client-side frameworks such as React, Redux, Angular, or similar modern JavaScript frameworks Proficient in building and consuming RESTful APIs; familiarity with GraphQL or gRPC is a plus Experience with server-side technologies like Node.js and Next.js Strong proficiency building / maintaining high performance web front ends using Typescript Fluency in styling libraries like SASS or other modern styling library Knowledge of content management systems (CMS), content delivery networks (CDN), and integrated analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Mixpanel) Understanding of web technologies and UI/UX standards, including internationalization (i18n) and accessibility (a11y) principles Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical audiences Experience working effectively with cross-functional teams, including designers, backend engineers, and product managers, in distributed environments Proven ability to manage stakeholder expectations and provide mentorship to junior engineers Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a passion for technology and continuous learning Experience with Material UI or other component design systems is a plus $180,000 - $250,000 a year Benefits
