Job Description

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent is required plus a minimum of 15 years of demonstrated leadership; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 13 years of demonstrated leadership.

Department of Defense Secret security clearance is preferred at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities for this Position

General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Marion Segment Director. The position offers an opportunity to enhance organizational performance and profitability supporting national defense services. Employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions for high-stakes national security missions.

Representative Duties and Tasks:

  1. Directs a business area within a division, overseeing multiple disciplines, programs, products, and/or customers to meet business objectives.
  2. Responsible for customer satisfaction, leadership, overall performance, schedule, and profit and loss of large programs or a portfolio throughout the program lifecycle.
  3. Creates comprehensive business plans and establishes strategic objectives.
  4. Evaluates functional area plans and their impacts on the business.
  5. Reviews organizational capabilities and develops strategies for competitiveness, including professional growth, strategic hiring, partnerships, and acquisitions.
  6. Identifies market and scope changes, developing product/program positions for cost, price, and feature adjustments.
  7. Develops and implements organizational policies.
  8. Balances programs, risks, and opportunities to meet technical and budgetary requirements.
  9. Conducts reviews, identifies issues, develops corrective actions, and communicates with teams.
  10. Sets standards for metric reviews within a business area.
  11. Develops personnel to ensure efficient operations.
  12. Conducts business and technical briefings for management and external stakeholders.
  13. Engages in complex negotiations involving critical matters.
  14. Builds customer relationships and develops new business opportunities.
  15. Leads patent and data rights management for products, programs, proposals, and subcontracts.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Extensive knowledge of products, technologies, and target markets.
  • Skilled in developing and implementing product and program strategies.
  • Proven leadership of programs with significant technical or delivery risks.
  • Ability to develop cohesive program plans, track progress, and implement corrective actions.
  • Excellent communication skills for internal and external interactions.
  • Expertise in risk and opportunity management, financial analysis, and government contracting practices.
  • Strong relationship management, negotiation, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage teams in a matrix organization and develop company policies.
  • Proficient with MS Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint; willing to travel.

Salary Note: The typical salary range for this position is USD $216,898.00 - USD $234,691.00 per year, based on experience and other factors. Actual pay may vary. The job posting remains open until filled.
