Position Summary

The role of the Anesthesia Technician is to assist the anesthesiologist in the acquisition, preparation, and application of the equipment and supplies required for the delivery of anesthesia: The anesthesia technician also provides support to the anesthesiologist for routine and complex cases. This is accomplished through preparation and maintenance of patient monitoring devices and the anesthesia delivery systems, before, during and after anesthesia.

Job Responsibilities

• • Ascertains that all anesthesia carts are stocked with the necessary supplies and laryngoscopes in accordance with procedures after each case and at the end of the shift.
  • Performs daily testing on anesthesia machines, including checking tank level and reports any issues identified to the Director/designee.
  • Inventories, orders and maintains departmental supply stock consistent with department demand.
  • Maintains the sterile supplies within expiration date in any area where anesthesia supplies are housed.
  • Following established policies and procedures, cleans and sterilizes all laryngoscope blades, LMAs and bronchoscopes after each use.
  • Provides assistance to the anesthesiologist/CRNA by helping during induction. Sets up all necessary lines and equipment as requested by the anesthesia provider.
  • Maintains all equipment which includes:

Education/Experience

• High school diploma required.
• Previous experience as an anesthesia technician preferred.
• 2 years of healthcare related experience.
• Maintains CPR
• Must have knowledge of principles of purchasing, supply level, sterile technique and the principals of aseptic practice.
