Solar Installer Job Title Solar Installer Department Field Operations Location Dallas, Texas (onsite) Role Overview We are seeking a dynamic Solar Installer to oversee production, quality, and safety across multiple installation teams. This role is primarily office‑based (80%) focusing on scheduling, resource allocation, and performance reviews, while also requiring field visits (20%) for site inspections and quality control. The ideal candidate will ensure seamless operations by preparing daily schedules, verifying completed work, and maintaining strict safety standards. Strong leadership, organizational skills, and solar installation expertise are essential. A company vehicle is provided for field duties. Competitive Compensation: Salary that reflects your skills and experience. Piece Rate Pay for Solar Installation Technician: $20–$25 per kW installed. Job Responsibilities Work with a team to install the racking system and solar panels on residential roofs. Structurally mount racking and electrical equipment and effectively seal penetrations. Perform routine photovoltaic (PV) system maintenance on modules, arrays, batteries, power conditioning equipment, safety systems, structural systems, weather sealing, or balance of systems equipment. Ensure proper job documentation is completed once the job installation concludes. Interact with customers, answer and direct questions as needed. Read and review blueprints and plan documents. Install racking systems and modules, run conduit and wiring on roofs. Apply weather seal, such as pipe flashings and sealants, to roof penetrations and structural devices. Configure electrical wiring of the solar system (AC and DC) per plans and local codes. Test operation or functionality of completed work. Demonstrate knowledge of OSHA standards related to photovoltaic installations and enforce safety practices. Certified OSHA/OSHA10/30 preferred. Assisting with other duties as assigned by Crew Lead and/or Regional Operations Manager. Required Qualifications Education Must be at least 18 years of age. High school diploma or equivalent, or technical/trade school training in solar or electrical systems preferred. Skills and Experience 1 year of residential solar experience. Ability to safely handle power tools and materials such as ladders, inverters, solar panels, panel boards, batteries, lumber, roofing materials, etc. Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills. Ability to perform all installation duties of the Installer and Lead Installer. Knowledge of current NEC codes and ability to interpret single‑line drawings and PV systems from roof to meter. Understanding of electrical principles as they pertain to solar interconnection/tie‑in and code; understanding of basic construction principles. Adherence to company safety policies and procedures; ability to identify and report safety hazards. Understanding of electrical panels including sub‑panels, MBD derate, conduit bending, relocating circuits, etc. Layout and assembly of solar modules, arrays, and mounting hardware. Must successfully pass pre‑employment screening requirements (valid Driver’s License and clean MVR required to drive company vehicles). OSHA preferred. Physical Requirements Ability to work within safe range of equipment such as ladders, fall protection harnesses and other personal protective equipment. Ability to withstand heights, be on roofs, and climb ladders (daily). Ability to lift 50‑75+ lbs. routinely (daily). Ability to work in 0‑100+ degree weather, as well as in wet and dry conditions. Ability to move around for prolonged periods; standing, kneeling, bending, squatting and climbing ladders (daily).
