Position Overview

The National Media Director leads the development and execution of ACE Scholarships' video and photo strategy, playing a critical role in telling ACE’s story across fundraising, advocacy, marketing, and digital platforms. This role reports to the Vice President of Marketing & Events and is responsible for building a comprehensive annual content strategy, managing media vendors, developing messaging for multimedia assets, and delivering consistent, mission-driven visual storytelling. This is a strategy-first role with the opportunity to be hands-on in content creation where applicable.

The National Media Director will also directly manage two key members of the MarComms team: the Web and Digital Communications Manager and the Content Manager.

Primary Job Responsibilities

 1. Content Strategy & Planning

  • Develop and maintain a year-long content strategy aligned with ACE’s national goals and event calendar.
  • Identify key themes, story arcs, and content moments across states and stakeholder audiences.
  • Produce strategic shot lists and messaging guidance for all major photo and video campaigns.

2. Video & Photo Strategy Oversight

  • Lead ACE’s video and photography strategy to support fundraising events, website, social media, donor engagement, and legislative storytelling.
  • Craft clear, mission-aligned messaging for video scripts, interviews, and visual storytelling.
  • Ensure consistency in tone, quality, and brand alignment across all media.

3. Vendor & Production Management

  • Source and manage creative vendors for regional and national video/photo projects.
  • Develop briefs, coordinate timelines, and oversee project delivery.
  • Provide creative direction and ensure final outputs meet ACE's standards and messaging goals.

4. Team & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner closely with the VP of Marketing & Events on campaign and event storytelling.
  • Collaborate with Communications, PR, Events, and Development teams to ensure seamless integration of media assets.
  • Coordinate with Web & Digital Communications Manager for asset publishing and organization.

5. Team Management

  • Provide leadership, direction, and mentorship to the Web and Digital Communications Manager and the Content Manager.
  • Conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and professional development planning.
  • Ensure alignment across roles in support of ACE’s media and content strategy.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Unwavering belief in the Mission, Vision, Values and Founding Principles of ACE Scholarships
  • Hands-on video/photo editing or shooting capabilities
  • Experience in managing third-party partners and contractors for video and photography content collection
  • Familiarity with media hosting platforms like Vimeo and collaboration tools such as Asana or Office365
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced and mission-driven environment. 

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Media Production, Communications, Marketing, or related field, or equivalent working experience. 
  • 6+ years of experience in media content strategy, video production, or multimedia storytelling.
  • Demonstrated experience managing external creative vendors and delivering high-quality visual content.
  • Strong visual storytelling, messaging, and creative direction skills.
  • Highly organized with excellent project management and communication abilities.
  • Passion for educational freedom, school choice, and ACE’s mission.

Location, Travel, and Reporting

  • This is an in-office position based in Denver, CO.
  • Reports to VP of Marketing & Events
  • Direct reports: 1-2, with potential for growth
  • 0-5% travel throughout the year

FLSA Status:

Full-time, Exempt.

Compensation/Benefits

Annual Salary of $90,000 - $120,000 and eligible for annual performance bonuses, plus benefits package, which includes but is not limited to:

Actual compensation offered will be finalized at offer and may be above the posted range due to skill level, experience, industry specific knowledge, education/certifications, or geographic location. The offer represents the components of our total rewards package.
