The Maintenance Technician reports to the Maintenance Technician Associate Team Leader (ATL) and is responsible for repairs, adjustments, and ongoing maintenance at the metro food production facility.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with implementing preventive maintenance schedules and checklists for all equipment.
  • Routinely walk the facility and note areas in need of repair or updating in the maintenance log.
  • Assist with diagnosing equipment malfunctions and determining appropriate repair strategies.
  • Assist with inventory management of maintenance supplies, spare parts, and tools.
  • Maintain a log of equipment routine maintenance and ensure appropriate vendor scheduling as needed.
  • Ensure all work is performed promptly without disrupting the normal course of business for facility Team Members.
  • Adherence to all safety policies for equipment when maintaining or cleaning including Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO).
  • Communicate and maintain building safety and security standards and follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) guidelines.
  • Use common hand and power tools such as screwdrivers, saws, drills, wrenches, and hammers, as well as specialized equipment and electronic testing devices.
  • Communicate and maintain Team Member safety and security standards.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of, and ensure compliance with, relevant regulatory rules and standards, including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), US Department of Agriculture (USDA), State Department of Agriculture, Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP), Food Safety and Modernization Act (FSMA), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Department of Labor, Health and Sanitation guidelines, Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and Weights and Measures.
  • Attend all applicable equipment and certification trainings.
  • Foster a positive work environment of outstanding teamwork and mutual respect.


Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of previous experience in a maintenance leadership role within a food production or manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration, and electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret repair manuals, parts catalogues, blueprints, technical procedures, safety rules, operation/maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to details, and ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to deliver information in a clear and concise manner to fellow team members.
  • Ability to prioritize effectively and make good decisions on when and how to repair various equipment.
  • Ability to visually examine the building for damage or wear and to fix encountered problems.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the proper use of a dumpster, baler, forklift, box cutters, small power tools, hand tools, and other related equipment.
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing operations, supply chain management, environmental health and safety, and OSHA.
  • Basic computer skills; proficiency in select Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); and ability to learn custom applications.
  • Ability to work well with others, self-motivated, and capable of working independently with little supervision.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule based on the needs of the facility, including nights, weekends and holidays as required.

Physical Requirements / Working Conditions:  

  • Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.
  • Must adhere to company dress code and standards of production kitchen dress and personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with reasonable accommodation. 
  • Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling.
  • Work requires the following motions: bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching.
  • Use common hand and power tools such as screwdrivers, saws, drills, wrenches, and hammers, as well as specialized equipment and electronic testing devices.
  • Exposure to FDA-approved cleaning chemicals.
  • Exposure to temperatures: <32 degrees Fahrenheit (freezing), 32-40 degrees Fahrenheit (refrigerators), >90 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Ability to work in wet and dry conditions.
  • May require the use of ladders.

The wage range for this position is $24.50-$41.00 Hourly, commensurate with experience. Whole Foods Market offers "Whole Benefits".
