Job Description This role supports Palo Alto Networks' legal department by optimizing outside counsel management and spend. Responsibilities include managing outside counsel engagements, selection, onboarding, performance evaluation, and billing review. You will maintain legal technologies and processes for e-billing, matter management, and spend analytics. The role reports to the Director, Head of Legal Operations, and collaborates with legal, finance, and outside counsel teams. Your Impact Oversee quarterly and annual budget planning with Finance across legal practice areas. Collaborate with stakeholders to forecast and budget legal spend. Develop strategies to reduce outside counsel spend while maintaining quality. Implement a preferred vendor panel and spend optimization strategies. Manage onboarding, selection, and performance evaluation of outside counsel. Negotiate billing rates and alternative fee arrangements. Oversee e-billing, invoice review, and processing for accuracy and compliance. Develop legal spend analytics and reporting to identify trends and savings opportunities. Implement and support legal technology solutions for outside counsel management, e-billing, and spend analytics. Stay updated on industry best practices. Train legal teams and outside counsel on billing, e-billing, and related topics. Drive continuous improvement in legal operations processes and systems. Build collaborative relationships with cross-functional partners. Qualifications Your Experience Self-starter with enthusiasm, able to work independently and as part of a team, with a passion for operations and diverse project support. Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively. Impeccable attention to detail, judgment, organization, and communication skills. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. 7+ years in legal operations, focusing on outside counsel management and legal billing practices / e-billing systems. Experience with legal technology platforms, including matter management, e-billing, and spend analytics. Compensation Disclosure Salary ranges from $142,000 to $178,000 annually, depending on qualifications and location. Compensation may include stock units and bonuses. Benefits details are available.
