Job Description Independent Contractors for an intelligence agency are needed to conduct comprehensive interviews with subjects, employers, associates, references, and other knowledgeable individuals. They review appropriate records to obtain facts to resolve material issues or to establish the background, reputation, character, suitability, or qualifications of the subject under investigation. Independent Contractors are not employees and can accept or reject assignments. They typically work from their home offices and within investigation territories, generally within a 100-mile radius. TDY assignments may also be available as needed. Duties and Responsibilities include: Conduct fieldwork to gather all pertinent factual information and report it in a non-biased, clear, and concise Report of Investigation. Conduct face-to-face interviews with subjects, references, neighbors, coworkers, supervisors, friends, and other associates as necessary. Complete record searches at employment sites, residences, law enforcement agencies, courthouses, and other record repositories. Work independently and securely from home with minimal supervision. Meet government and industry standards for quality, integrity, timeliness, and productivity. Operate in a MS Windows environment, proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Internet, and Email. Qualifications Active security clearance is required. Federal background investigative experience. Professional demeanor with adaptability to change. Strong writing and communication skills, with the ability to establish rapport quickly. Excellent problem-solving, time management, organization, scheduling, and prioritization skills. Valid driver's license, favorable driver history, reliable transportation, and sufficient motor vehicle insurance. Intermediate or better typing skills (40+ WPM) and computer proficiency.
