ReAx Biotechnologies – Senior Director, Biology

At ReAx Biotechnologies, we are passionate about the discovery, optimization and validation of small molecules targeting so-called ‘undruggable’ proteins directly in cells. Our proprietary platform enables interrogation of any protein target through the integration of probe discovery and high-throughput next-generation chemoproteomics.

We are seeking a highly skilled, motivated and experienced Senior Director of Biology to lead our drug discovery efforts and drive the development of innovative therapeutics. The ideal candidate will be an accomplished scientist with a strong background in translational biology , target validation , and preclinical drug development , as well as have a proven track record in advancing new medicines into clinical trials. This leadership role will be critical in shaping our biology strategy and leading a team of scientists to deliver on key project milestones.

Responsibilities

·Lead the biology strategy and execution for drug discovery programs, ensuring scientific excellence and alignment with company goals.

·Drive the identification, validation and selection of novel therapeutic targets with a focus on clinical translation.

·Oversee and manage a team of on-site scientists, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and scientific rigor.

·Collaborate cross-functionally with chemistry, platform and business teams to drive programs from discovery to clinical development.

·Present scientific findings, strategic plans, and progress updates to executive leadership, external partners, and stakeholders.

Qualifications

· PhD in Biology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Cancer Biology, Immunology, Chemical Biology, Pharmacology, or related field with 10+ years of biotech or pharma industry experience; or MS with 15+ years of relevant biotechnology or pharmaceutical experience. Preference for industry experience in cancer biology. Preference for a candidate with prior early stage biotech experience. Possibility for a more senior level and job title for this position - will be considered based on track record and degree of experience.

·Candidate will need to be based full-time, on-site in Chicago and relocation will be available for the right candidate.

·Demonstrated track record of leading drug discovery programs and successfully advancing therapeutics into clinical trials .

·Proven leadership experience, with a history of building and managing high-performing scientific teams .

·Expertise in cellular and molecular cancer biology, in vivo models, translational research , and biomarker discovery. Significant experience in chemical library screening, analysis of patient-derived samples, and multi-omics analyses is highly desired.

·Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with internal teams, external collaborators, and investors .
