The Opportunity:

Tetra Tech is seeking a Project Manager - Water/Wastewater to join our Atlanta, GA team. This position will lead the delivery of municipal and utility infrastructure projects, with a focus on planning and designing water and wastewater treatment systems, pipelines, pump stations, and related conveyance networks. The role blends project leadership with technical execution and offers the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement from our Powers Ferry office.

Position Summary:

The Project Manager - Water/Wastewater oversees engineering design and project delivery for municipal clients throughout the Southeast. The position requires strong technical acumen in water and wastewater systems, proven project management experience, and the ability to foster client trust through consistent quality and reliability.

Essential Job Functions:

The following duties are considered essential to the role. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.
  • Lead water and wastewater design projects from concept development through final design and construction support.
  • Manage project scope, schedule, budget, and quality while ensuring compliance with client expectations and Tetra Tech standards.
  • Supervise preparation of reports, design drawings, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for municipal and utility clients, maintaining relationships and identifying new opportunities.
  • Direct and mentor engineering staff and coordinate efforts across disciplines.
  • Evaluate alternatives and provide sound engineering recommendations.
  • Support proposal development and contribute to business development initiatives.
  • Provide construction-phase services, including review of RFIs, submittals, and change orders.
  • Monitor project performance metrics such as backlog, utilization, and profitability.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Water Resources Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Georgia, or ability to obtain within six months.
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in water/wastewater infrastructure design and project management.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary project teams and manage budgets and schedules.
  • Strong communication and technical writing skills.
  • Familiarity with municipal standards, codes, and permitting requirements.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard engineering software tools.
  • Valid U.S. driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
  • 10+ years of experience managing water and wastewater treatment, conveyance, or pumping projects.
  • Experience with design-build or alternative delivery methods.
  • Proficiency in hydraulic modeling software such as WaterGEMS, SewerGEMS, or InfoWater.
  • Established client relationships within the Georgia or Southeast municipal market.
  • Experience mentoring staff and supporting team leadership initiatives.
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods working at a desk and using a computer.
  • Occasional walking, standing, climbing, or lifting up to 25 pounds may be required.
  • Field visits may involve exposure to outdoor weather conditions, construction sites, and uneven terrain.
Work Environment / Environmental Factors:
  • Work will primarily be performed in an office environment with periodic field visits.

    Field work may include exposure to varying weather conditions, moderate noise levels, and active construction environments.
