Physician – Primary Care

Position Summary

The Physician provides high-quality primary medical care, including evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and management of acute and chronic health conditions for patients across the lifespan. This role participates in the development and implementation of clinical programs, supports care coordination, and contributes to an integrated, team-based model of care. The Physician may provide clinical oversight to nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and other clinical staff in accordance with state and federal regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive primary care, including assessment, diagnosis, and medical management of patients.
  • Perform physical examinations, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and develop evidence-based treatment plans.
  • Provide urgent and emergency care as appropriate within the clinical setting.
  • Perform minor procedures and in-office treatments as indicated.
  • Maintain complete, accurate, and compliant medical documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Prescribe medications, therapies, and treatments consistent with clinical standards and regulatory guidelines.
  • Offer clinical oversight, consultation, and supervision to advanced practice providers where required.
  • Provide patient education that supports understanding of diagnoses, medications, and care plans.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary Care Team meetings and population health initiatives.
  • Coordinate referrals, continuity of care, and follow-up as needed.
  • Assist in scheduling coverage to ensure appropriate provider availability for office hours.
  • Participate in the rotating call schedule for after-hours support, if applicable.
  • Address patient concerns or clinical complaints in collaboration with leadership.
  • Contribute to quality improvement activities, clinical protocols, and performance initiatives.
  • Attend required training sessions and maintain continuing medical education (CME) requirements.
  • Represent the organization professionally in community or outreach events when needed.
  • Adhere to organizational policies, safety protocols, and incident reporting requirements.
  • Maintain professionalism, reliability, and strong attendance to support continuity of patient care.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Completion of an accredited residency program in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or another primary care specialty.
  • Active, unrestricted state medical license.
  • Board certification or board eligibility in a primary care specialty.
  • Current DEA registration (or ability to obtain).
  • Experience in primary care or community-based healthcare preferred; rural experience a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively within a healthcare team.
  • Ability to travel between clinical locations if needed.
  • Must meet background check and credentialing requirements.
  • Valid driver’s license and insurability (if travel is required).
