Medical Science Liaison - West (WA, OR, ID, MT, WY, UT, CO, NV, AZ, NM) - Hematology/Oncology
Role Summary:
This field-based role is focused on engaging healthcare professionals (HCPs) to exchange scientific and medical information in the area of myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs). The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) plays a vital role in building and maintaining relationships within the medical and scientific community-supporting education, research, and clinical development activities. A particular emphasis is placed on facilitating the medical understanding and adoption of a therapeutic candidate for polycythemia vera (PV).
Key Responsibilities:
Establish a credible scientific presence within the hematology/oncology community.
Identify, engage, and build relationships with key stakeholders, including clinical experts and treatment influencers.
Support regional and national thought leaders across a range of settings (academic centers, IDNs, community practices, etc.).
Deliver accurate and balanced scientific information to external stakeholders via advisory boards, speaker programs, workshops, and one-on-one interactions.
Facilitate educational initiatives related to disease awareness, clinical guidelines, and future product information (post-approval).
Collaborate on study management, ensuring alignment with internal medical and commercial strategies.
Maintain deep knowledge in relevant therapeutic areas (hematology, oncology, interferons); review and summarize key publications and medical conference takeaways.
Document interactions and insights using internal tools (e.g., CRM systems), contributing to strategy and knowledge-sharing.
Contribute to the development and submission of abstracts or presentations for medical congresses.
Partner cross-functionally with Medical Affairs, Market Access, and Commercial teams.
Track competitor developments and shifts in the therapeutic landscape.
Qualifications:
Advanced scientific or clinical degree (PhD, PharmD, MD) or equivalent experience in an MSL capacity.
Solid background in medicine, particularly hematology, oncology, or immunomodulatory therapies.
Relevant experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry, especially in medical affairs or field-based scientific roles.
Strong knowledge of clinical trial processes and research methodologies.
Proven ability to engage thought leaders and effectively communicate complex scientific topics.
Excellent presentation, communication, and writing skills.
Skilled at cross-functional collaboration, project planning, and time-sensitive execution.
Adaptable and team-oriented with a proactive, solutions-focused mindset.
Committed to compliance with regulatory standards and good clinical practice (GCP).
