Opportunity Overview:

The position is ideal for someone with a background in medical terminology and an interest in healthcare administration. The successful candidate will provide essential support to our faculty, administrators, and laboratory personnel to ensure the smooth operation of daily clinical activities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as a primary administrative resource for internal teams to support clinical and laboratory operations
• Receive, accession, and triage patient specimens, slides, and blocks
• Prepare, maintain, and distribute departmental and patient-related documents; scan documents into the EMR system
• Draft, type, and proofread a variety of materials including correspondence, reports, proposals, and manuscripts
• Handle inquiries and requests, applying knowledge of departmental and university policies and procedures
• Coordinate services with key vendors and assist with office equipment maintenance
• Oversee office operations and assist with supply purchasing and inventory management
• Collect and compile data for departmental reporting needs

Preferred Background:

• Experience supporting Pathology or Dermatology departments in an administrative or non-clinical capacity is a plus
• Strong typing skills (minimum 40 WPM )
• Excellent customer service and phone communication skills —this role handles a high volume of calls
• Ability to learn quickly and step into a fast-paced, high-volume environment
• Familiarity with transcription (not from dictation, but transferring data between documents/forms)
