Job Description

The Food Service Director is a management position responsible for developing and executing dining solutions to meet patients/residents' needs and tastes. Oversees and manages dining operations where customers order prepared foods from a menu.

Responsibilities

  1. Leadership: Lead, mentor, engage, and develop teams to maximize contributions; recruit, assess, train, coach, and manage performance; ensure food services align with the Executional Framework; create a shared understanding and reward employees; ensure safety and sanitation standards.
  2. Client Relationship: Identify client needs and communicate operational progress effectively.
  3. Financial Performance: Build revenue, manage budgets including cost controls for food, beverage, and labor; maintain P&L statements; achieve food and labor targets; manage resources for quality and cost control.
  4. Productivity: Implement and maintain Ditmas Park initiatives for labor and food; create value through efficient operations; ensure full compliance with operational fundamentals.
  5. Operations & Compliance: Oversee production, distribution, and food service; maintain a safe, healthy environment; comply with all policies, rules, and regulations; manage inventory and develop systems for food ordering, storage, and menu planning; recruit and develop staff; interact with client management; seek opportunities for new products/services.
  6. Additional Responsibilities: Manage front-of-house dining operations; develop food service plans aligned with mission and sustainable practices.

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of experience as a director of food and nutrition services.
  • Minimum coursework in food safety covering sanitation, food purchasing, etc.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to develop effective client relationships.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
