Executive Director, Community Relations & Sports Sponsorships

This position is with the UHealth system at the University of Miami, within the Marketing & Communications Department.

Core Job Functions

  1. Develop, implement, and oversee UHealth’s presence in strategic community relations activities, leveraging leadership and experts at public events. Create an annual community engagement plan in collaboration with internal teams.
  2. Manage partnerships with external companies to support the health system and medical school initiatives.
  3. Oversee activations and signage related to sports sponsorships, collaborating with Marketing and Brand Activation teams to enhance brand awareness and community presence.
  4. Devise and execute a strategic community relations plan promoting clinical operations and research/education missions, managing multiple projects with deadlines.
  5. Utilize data such as attendance and engagement metrics to inform decision-making, document performance goals, and monitor success.
  6. Expand outreach methods and develop new relationships with evolving audiences.
  7. Ensure consistent promotion of UHealth’s messaging and mission as an academic medical center through external communications.
  8. Integrate social media and digital platforms to promote UHealth’s clinical care regionally.
  9. Collaborate with marketing, communications, Government Affairs, Development, and University colleagues to align strategies.

Qualifications

Core Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.

Experience: 5-7 years in communications, with increasing responsibilities, management experience, and results-driven initiatives. Knowledge of the South Florida market is required.

Skills and Attitudes

  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain interpersonal relationships.
  • Understanding of key South Florida organizations and chambers.
  • Team-building skills to identify and retain top talent.
  • Organizational ability to handle multiple tasks independently.
  • Collaborative mindset to work across departments toward system-wide goals.

Relevant education, certifications, or experience may be considered.
