Data Scientist, Mid

On our team, you'll use your analytical skills and data science knowledge to create real-world impact. You'll work closely with your clients to understand their questions and needs, and then dig into their data-rich environments to find the pieces of their information puzzle. You'll develop algorithms and systems and use the right combination of tools and frameworks to turn sets of disparate data points into objective answers to help clients make informed decisions. Ultimately, you'll provide a deep understanding of the data, what it all means, and how it can be used.

What You'll Work On:

• Design, build, and deploy NLP models for classification, entity recognition, and text analytics.
• Apply geospatial analytics to develop algorithms such as co-travel detection and movement pattern modeling.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate mission challenges into data-driven solutions.
• Integrate structured and unstructured data from various sources, including text, geospatial, financial, order of battle, and polling data.
• Evaluate model performance, optimize algorithms, and ensure scalability in operational environments.
• Communicate technical findings to both technical and senior leadership audiences.

You Have:

• 3+ years of experience in data science or machine learning
• Experience in NLP model development, including classification, entity recognition, or bias detection
• Experience with Python, including libraries such as scikit-learn, spaCy, Hugging Face, TensorFlow, or PyTorch
• Experience with SQL and large, complex datasets
• Knowledge of geospatial data analysis, including trajectory analysis, clustering, co-travel modeling, or spatial-temporal algorithms
• TS/SCI clearance
• Bachelor's degree in a Computer Science, Data Science, or Mathematics field

Nice If You Have:

• Experience with Databricks for data science workflows, including building and scaling machine learning models, collaborating in notebooks, leveraging MLflow for experiment tracking and model deployment, and integrating with Spark for large-scale data processing
• Experience working with the U.S. Department of Defense or defense-related data sources
• Knowledge of basic data engineering principles, including ETL design, orchestration, and data pipeline requirements, to effectively partner with engineering teams
• Knowledge of graph analytics, anomaly detection, or network analysis techniques
• Possession of excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Master's degree in a quantitative field

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $77,600.00 to $176,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees.
