Company Overview
D.R. Allen & Sons operates as Fay Block Materials and Concrete Services Company , a well-established and growing supplier of building materials with multiple locations across the region. Our fleet includes concrete mixers, dump trucks, dump trucks with trailers, flatbeds with trailers, and cement tankers. We are currently seeking qualified and dependable part-time CDL drivers to join our team as fill-in drivers across all locations .

Job Summary
This is a part-time position of up to 25 hours per week . It is ideal for individuals seeking flexible hours—whether retired, working another career, or simply interested in part-time or on-call work. Drivers will support operations across several locations, filling in as needed.

We strictly follow DOT regulations, and all hours worked must comply with DOT Hours of Service guidelines. This role has worked especially well in the past for individuals such as firefighters who balance flexible schedules. If you already have a CDL, we will provide training to help you succeed in this role.

Drivers are responsible for delivering materials safely and efficiently while providing excellent customer service. This position requires professionalism, attention to safety, and a positive representation of the company at all times. A detailed job description will be provided during the interview.

• Ability to read, write, and speak English to interpret delivery tickets, safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Minimum age of 25.
• Current North Carolina CDL Class A or B license.
• At least two years of commercial driving experience.
• Clear MVR for the past 3 years.
• Clear criminal background.
• Compliance with all DOT driver requirements, including:
  • Current DOT physical.
  • Participation in the Clearinghouse and compliance with the drug-free program.
  • Zero tolerance for alcohol use while operating a commercial vehicle in North Carolina.

Physical Requirements

• Regularly required to sit; frequently required to use hands and arms.
• Occasionally required to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, or hear.
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
• Must have adequate vision (close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment).

• Quality: Ensures the correct load is delivered as requested by the customer.
