AI Engineer

• Location: San Francisco, CA
• Company Stage of Funding: Series A ($18.5M raised)
• Office Type: Onsite (Mission District, San Francisco)
• Salary: $140k - $200k + equity package of $140k-$200k

Our client is a leading developer documentation platform that's revolutionizing how companies connect with developers. Their platform reaches over 20 million developers annually and powers the documentation of 3,500+ companies, including major tech players and startups. Founded in 2022, they're a Y Combinator-backed company (W22 batch) on a mission to transform technical documentation through cutting-edge design and innovation.

What You Will Do

• Help build, train, and optimize the first applications of AI in their core product
• Fine-tune Large Language Models (LLMs) to enhance documentation capabilities
• Create and implement RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) pipelines
• Evaluate and optimize model performance for production environments
• Work collaboratively with the engineering team to integrate AI directly into products
• Contribute to pushing the boundaries of what's possible in developer documentation
• Help shape the foundation of their AI strategy as one of the first dedicated AI engineers

Ideal Candidate Background

• 1+ years of experience creating generative AI applications from scratch
• Software engineering experience (open to new grads with relevant internship experience)
• Experience working with LLM fine-tuning, data ingestion pipelines, and prompt engineering
• Ability to work in various backend languages
• Strong communication skills and empathetic team player
• Genuine enthusiasm for AI and keeping up with the latest models and implementations

Preferred

• Experience at early-stage startups (Seed to Series B)
• Computer Science background
• Experience building developer tools or documentation systems
• Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and adapt to new technologies
• Open-source contributions or personal AI projects
